Let the Sunshine In: Polished's Cleaning Method for Windows

Are you ready to bid farewell to smudges, streaks, and the occasional dead bug or fly poop on your windows? We've got you covered with our best tips to achieving crystal-clear views and letting the sunshine flood into your home! With just a few simple tools and a touch of elbow grease, your windows will be gleaming in no time.

What to grab: vacuum, bucket, hot water, dish soap, micro fiber clothes - 1 for each window, tooth brush & squeegee

Step 1: Vacuum Those Sills (Dead Bugs Included!)

Before we even think about sudsing up those windows, let's tackle those neglected window sills and tracks. Grab your trusty vacuum and give those dusty corners and tracks a good once-over. Don't be surprised if you discover a few long-lost treasures (or dead bugs) hiding in the depths of your window sills. Vacuum them away. The key tip here is not to wet your window until you vacuum out the tracks and sills. Getting the surface dirt wet will cause you extra elbow grease and work.

Step 2: Scrub Sill & Track Corners

With the dust and dead bugs banished, it's time to get scrubbing. Dip a toothbrush into your cleaning solution and give those window sills a good scrubbing. Pay extra attention to the corners and crevices where dirt likes to hide. Rinse away the suds with a damp cloth, and voila – squeaky clean window sills ready to impress even the most discerning of guests!

Step 3: Prepare Your Cleaning Solution

Now that your window sills are looking spick and span, it's time to focus on the main event – the windows themselves. Fill a bucket with warm water and add a few drops of dish soap. This simple yet effective cleaning solution will help to cut through grease and grime, leaving your windows sparkling clean.

Step 4: Squeegee Away

Starting at the top corner, use the squeegee to remove the cleaning solution in a single, smooth motion. Work your way down the window, wiping the squeegee blade with a clean cloth after each pass to prevent streaks.

Step 5: Dry and Shine

Once you've squeegeed away the cleaning solution, grab a microfiber cloth and give the window a final wipe-down. Buff the glass to a streak-free shine, and admire your handiwork. With windows this clean, you'll practically be able to see your reflection!

And there you have it – sparkling clean windows that will let the sunshine in and brighten up your home!
